Awards, honors and achievements for the month of February. 

The WCCHR provides survivors of persecution or torture seeking asylum in the U.S. with objective forensic evaluations, which are psychological and physical assessments, including gynecological exams, that can last up to three hours. Since its inception, the center has evaluated more than 1,100 people.

Encompassing a Dean’s Lecture Series and Dean’s Grant Program, the initiative aims to provide the institutional infrastructure and services needed to support AI use safely and effectively among faculty, staff and students.

Two Weill Cornell Medicine physician-scientists, Dr. Hooman Kamel and Dr. Robert Peck, have been elected members of the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI) for 2026.  

Dr. Longman will lead a world-class, multidisciplinary team of women’s health specialists who provide comprehensive health care services, spanning prenatal and postpartum services, gynecologic cancer screenings, treatment of reproductive disorders, family planning and preventative care.

On Dec. 10, first-year Weill Cornell Medical College students memorialized the 28 people who generously donated their bodies to the institution’s Gross Anatomy program.

Weill Cornell Medicine is poised to thrive in the coming years, with a planned expansion of its clinical enterprise serving as an engine for overall institutional growth, Dean Robert Harrington conveyed Dec. 16 during his biannual State of Weill Cornell Medicine address.

More than 75 employees were honored at the President’s Awards for Employee Excellence, representing Cornell’s Ithaca campus as well as Weill Cornell Medicine and Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. This year marked the first time nominations were open to all three campuses.

Dr. Robert A. Harrington detailed his path in academic medicine and research during a fireside chat for the Luminaries in Healthcare Leadership series.

Dr. Mocco will lead a large team of neurosurgeons and other experts who specialize in diseases that affect the blood vessels in the brain, known as cerebrovascular disease; brain and spinal tumors; movement disorders; and other diseases of the brain, spine and nerves that branch out from the brain and spinal cord.

Researchers at Weill Cornell Medicine have received a five-year grant from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases to support TRACE, a Tool for Reproducible, Accurate Contour Estimation.

Dr. Lauren Henderson, a physician-scientist whose research focuses on children with difficult-to-treat juvenile idiopathic arthritis and other autoimmune disorders, has been awarded the 10th annual Gale and Ira Drukier Prize in Children’s Health Research, Weill Cornell Medicine announced today. 

Dr. Judy Tung, a leading expert in internal medicine and primary care, has been named chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine in the Weill Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, effective Aug. 1.
