Dr. Michael Kaplitt

A new technology enables the control of specific brain circuits non-invasively with magnetic fields, according to a preclinical study from researchers at Weill Cornell Medicine, The Rockefeller University and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. 

Dr. Michael Kaplitt, a professor of neurological surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine and a longtime leader in developing cutting-edge surgical therapies for movement disorders, leads a team that has been awarded a three-year, $8.9 million grant from the Aligning Science Across Parkinson’s (ASAP) initiative. 

Alexandra Lebenthal can’t recall a time growing up when her hands didn’t shake uncontrollably. Since age three, she has dealt with essential tremor, a neurological disorder that left her struggling with everyday activities like cutting food, pouring drinks and holding a pen.
