Dr. Peter Goldstein

A non-opioid designer molecule for treating chronic neuropathic pain by calming hyperactive pain-sensing neurons in the peripheral nervous system has had promising results in a preclinical study.

Dr. Peter Goldstein, a professor of anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine, has been awarded a grant from the National Institutes of Health  for a project to develop a non-opioid, non-addicting medicine for a hard-to-treat form of pain called neuropathic pain.

Eight Weill Cornell Medicine faculty members have been selected for the fifth round of the Daedalus Fund for Innovation awards, a pioneering institutional program that helps advance promising applied and translational research projects and emerging technologies that have commercial potential.
