Save the Date: The George N. Papanicolaou, M.D., Ph.D. Symposium 2004 (May 13)

Weill Cornell's Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and The Hellenic Medical Society of New York will present the George N. Papanicolaou, M.D., Ph.D. Symposium on Thursday, May 13, at the Weill Education Center. 


The event, which honors the late Dr. Papanicolaou, the discoverer of a smear test for uterine cancer that became known as the "Pap" smear test, will start with a 6:30 p.m. reception, followed by a 7 p.m. program.

Demosthenis Triantafillou, president of The Institute of Dodecanesian Studies (Fort Lee, N.J.), will present "Hippocratic Tree, Dr. George Papanicolaou and Scientific Discovery"; Dr. Marluce Bibbo, a professor in the Departments of Pathology and Cell Biology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, will discuss "New Trends in Pap Testing"; and Dr. Thomas Caputo, professor and vice chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Weill Cornell, will lecture on "New Developments in the Treatment of Cervical Cancer."
