
Dr. Rüdiger Hehlmann
Dr. Rüdiger Hehlmann, chief and professor of medicine at the University of Heidelberg (Germany), will be the guest of the Department of Medicine as the 2004 Richard T. Silver, M.D. Visiting Professor of Hematology/Medical Oncology.
Dr. Hehlmann will present the Silver Lecture during Grand Rounds on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 11 a.m. in Uris Auditorium. His topic will be "Towards a Cure of Chronic Myeloid Leukemia."
The Richard T. Silver, M.D. Visiting Professor of Hematology/Medical Oncology was established in 1998 through the generosity of the family, friends, patients and colleagues of Dr. Silver, clinical professor of medicine. Dr. Silver is not only a longstanding member of the faculty of the Medical College but also an alumnus (Class of 1953). His outstanding support for research and leukemia and other myeloproliferative disease has helped Weill Cornell to develop one of the nation's leading cancer research programs. The Visiting Professorship named in his honor helps support a visiting physician-scientist working in the Division of Hematology/Oncology in the Department of Medicine.
