The 3rd International Symposium of Ophthalmology, focusing on "The Challenges and Controversies in Ophthalmology in the New Millennium," was recently held in Hong Kong in conjunction with the inaugural symposium of the Asia-Pacific Society of Eye Genetics. Among the presenters were three participants from Weill Cornell.
Dr. David H. Abramson, clinical professor of ophthalmology and director of the Ophthalmic Oncology Program, presented his research on "Third, Fourth and Fifth Non-Ocular Cancers in Retinoblastoma Survivors."
Katherine Beaverson, genetic counselor, spoke about the presenting signs of retinoblastoma ("Retinoblastoma: Presentations in the 21st Century").
Dr. Jennifer Williams, instructor in anesthesiology, prepared a poster highlighting the anesthesiology experience with patients in the Retinoblastoma Program ("Examination Under Anesthesia: State of the Art in the 21st Century"). Her collaborator on this project was Dr. Miles Dinner, associate professor of clinical anesthesiology and director of Pediatric Anesthesiology.
