At the second annual Celebration of Teaching dinner, held on May 23 at the Cornell Club in Manhattan, Weill Medical College honored 26 faculty who received "Excellence in Teaching Awards" in recognition of their dedication and commitment to teaching.
A special surprise award was presented to Dr. Daniel Alonso in recognition of his long and dedicated service as senior associate dean for academic affairs. Dr. Alonso recently stepped down as senior associate dean to become the inaugural dean of the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar.
Dr. Antonio Gotto, dean of the Medical College, joined Dr. Carol Storey-Johnson, senior associate dean for education, in presenting the "Excellence in Teaching Awards." Among the honorees were several clinical faculty who preceptor medical students in network hospitals of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System.
