Havva Idriss Named Vice Dean of Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar

Dr. Daniel Alonso, dean of the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q), has announced the appointment of Havva Idriss as vice dean for administration at WCMC-Q.

Ms. Idriss joins Weill Cornell with a distinguished record as a senior executive in health-care administration. Most recently, she served as senior vice president for the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System (the Hospital's network of affiliated health-care institutions). Previously, she was president and C.E.O. of United Hospital in Port Chester, N.Y. (1980-95).

As vice dean, Ms. Idriss will be responsible for the administrative management of WCMC-Q, reporting directly to Dean Alsonso. "Ms. Idriss is an outstanding administrator who has served with distinction in our Medical Center. She will now apply her experience, knowledge and exceptional administrative skills to the task of developing the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar," said Dean Alonso.

Ms. Idriss has been actively engaged in the design of the new Medical College building in Qatar, has begun the process of recruiting administrative managers for the program, and is developing policies and procedures for the WCMC-Q to ensure consistency and integration between the two Medical College locations. She will relocate to Doha, Qatar, early next year.
