WCMC Welcomes Class of 2015

class of 2015; white coat 2011

Weill Cornell Medical College officially welcomed the class of 2015 on Aug. 23 at the white-coat ceremony, an annual rite of passage for all new students to receive their white coats. After an introduction by Dr. Carlyle Miller, associate dean for student affairs and equal-opportunity programs, Dr. Hans Gerdes, professor of clinical medicine and a 1983 alumnus of the Medical College, delivered the keynote speech. Dean Antonio M. Gotto Jr. recited the Hippocratic Oath, telling the students that they will be able to recite it themselves in four years.

Surrounded by proud family and friends in the capacity-filled Uris Auditorium, 103 students donned their white coats with help from distinguished faculty members, including Drs. Carol Storey-Johnson, Richard Cohen, Lewis Drusin, Peter Marzuk, Shari Midoneck, Paul Miskovitz, Estomih Mtui, Andrew Schafer and Charles Bardes.

The students' white coats, which are shorter versions of the ones worn by physicians, were generously funded by the Buster Foundation. In addition to the white coats, students received stethoscopes that were provided by the Buster Foundation's Paul F. Miskovitz ’75 Stethoscope Fund for Medical Students.
