Two Weill Cornell Medical College physicians will be recognized this weekend by the Preeclampsia Foundation for their exemplary care of pregnant women with hypertension disorders.

Dr. Phyllis August, a professor in the Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell and a physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Dr. Daniel Skupski, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at the Medical College and physician at NYP, will be among four New York–area physicians receiving the foundation's Outstanding Physician for Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy award. The physicians will be honored at the foundation's 7th annual "Saving Grace: A Night of Hope and Gratitude" dinner gala Nov. 12 at the Hilton New York.

Dr. August is also a professor of public health and the Ralph A. Baer Professor of Medical Research. She serves as director of the Lang Center for Research and Education at New York Hospital Queens. Her research focuses on ways to prevent and treat preeclampsia.

Dr. Skupski is also a physician at New York Hospital Queens. He is often listed among "Top Doctors" in New York magazine.

Preeclampsia, a pregnancy-induced hypertensive condition, is one of the leading causes of death or morbidity for mothers and babies worldwide. The Preeclampsia Foundation is a not-for-profit dedicated to providing patient support, sponsoring research and raising awareness for the condition.
