Dr. Harold Varmus, the new president of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and former director of the NIH, kicks off the Millennium Lecture Series "Revolutionizing Medicine in the 21st Century: The Impact of Genetics and Molecular Biology" on Tuesday, April 11, at 7 p.m., at the American Museum of Natural History (Central Park West at 79th Street). Dr. Varmus' talk, entitled "How Genetics Is Transforming Medicine," will provide an overview of the Human Genome Project and examine how researchers are exploiting the new genetic knowledge to unravel the mysteries of cancer and develop more effective treatments and cures.
