Three trophies

Dr. Marc Boom, associate professor of clinical medicine, was named the chair-elect designate of the American Hospital Association. Elected by the association’s board of trustees, the chair-elect is the organization’s top official, representing and serving more than 5,000 hospitals and providers committed to improving health care.

Dr. Alberto Jesus Gonzalez-Hernandez, postdoctoral associate in biochemistry, and Dr. Qianyi Wu, postdoctoral associate in physiology and biophysics, were both awarded the Charles H. Revson Senior Fellowship in the Biomedical Sciences Program for the Class of 2024–2026. The two-year fellowship is awarded annually to eight outstanding New York metro area scientists entering their third or fourth year of postdoctoral research.

Dr. Julianne Imperato-McGinley, director of the Clinical and Translational Science Center and a professor of medicine, was honored with the Lifetime of Medical Research, Scholarship, and Community Health Award at the 2024 Hostos Community College Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Benefit. This award recognizes her contributions as a physician, researcher and educator, emphasizing her dedication to community health.

Dr. Rahul Sharma, chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, received the 2024 New York American College for Emergency Physicians Advancing Emergency Care Award. The college in 2008 established the award to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to advancing emergency care in New York state.

Dr. Yi Wang, professor of physics in radiology, was awarded the 2024 International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Gold Medal Award. The award, the society’s highest honor, is bestowed on basic and clinical scientists in recognition of major research contributions to the field of magnetic resonance.
