Dr. Lisa Newman, chief of the section of breast surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, was awarded the 2024 Gianni Bonadonna Breast Cancer Award by the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The award recognizes Dr. Newman for her distinguished record of accomplishments in advancing the breast cancer field.
Dr. Nili Solomonov, assistant professor of psychology in psychiatry, received the 2024 Theodore Blau Early Career Award from the American Psychological Association. This award honors a clinical psychologist for their accomplishments and promise in clinical psychology.
Dr. Jedd Wolchok, the Meyer Director of the Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center and a professor of medicine, was named a fellow of the Academy of Immuno-Oncology by the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer. One of the highest honors bestowed by the society, this recognizes outstanding contributions to the field of immunotherapy of cancer throughout one's career.
Dr. Zhen Zhao, professor of clinical pathology and laboratory medicine, was awarded the 2024 IFCC Distinguished Women Scientist Award by the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine for contribution to in vitro diagnostics This award recognizes a woman who has made significant contributions to the development or utilization of in vitro diagnostics with emphasis on applications in primary health care.
Justin McCaskill ‘27, a Weill Cornell Medical College student, was appointed to the American College of Physicians (ACP) Council of Student Members and was selected as the student representative to the American Medical Association (AMA). The council consists of 12 medical students from across the country, selected for a three-year term, who are passionate about internal medicine. Their charge is to review programs, products and services that impact medical students and medicine at large.
