“We are delighted to welcome Dr. Malik to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital,” said Robert Guimento, president of NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. “A distinguished leader in the field of vascular surgery, Dr. Malik is a gifted physician and innovative surgeon, and we look forward to his contributions to our team for the benefit of our patients.”
In his new role, Dr. Malik will lead the expansion of vascular surgery services at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, offering patients greater access to advanced vascular surgery techniques and care. Dr. Malik is experienced in treatments for complex vascular illnesses, including a circulatory condition in which narrowed blood vessels reduce blood flow to the limbs called peripheral arterial disease (PAD), bulges or tears in the lining of the aorta (aortic aneurysm and dissection), and blood clots in deep veins (deep vein thrombosis). He plans to bring new, innovative approaches to these complicated diseases in collaboration with the vascular team at Weill Cornell Medicine.
“I am excited to be joining the talented team at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, and I look forward to advancing innovative vascular services and providing world-class care to patients in Brooklyn,” said Dr. Malik.
Dr. Malik joins NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital from Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, where he served as chief of vascular surgery and medical director of vascular services. Prior to that, Dr. Malik served as Program Director for vascular surgery fellowship and residency at MedStar-Georgetown University Hospital, where he trained many young vascular surgeons. He is also a founding member of the South Asian American Vascular Society.
An accomplished academic researcher, Dr. Malik has published in many peer-reviewed journals, conference papers and books, with a sharp focus on aortic aneurysms. He has also presented at national conferences, and is considered a key opinion leader in PAD and aortic dissections.
Dr. Malik received his medical degree from the New York Medical College where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Society for graduating at the top of his class. He completed his internship and residency at New York University, and his vascular and endovascular fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital.
