For Dr. Heather Yeo, medicine is synonymous with family. Her father was a respected surgeon who sparked in her a passion for medicine that led her down the same career path, and a close relationship with her grandmother inspired her interest in caring for older patients. As a colorectal surgeon, Dr. Yeo is committed to improving surgical outcomes and fostering outstanding, patient-centered care.
“For me, the relationships with the patients are very important,” said Dr. Yeo, an assistant professor of surgery and of healthcare policy and research at Weill Cornell Medicine. “I want to take care of them like I would want someone to take care of my grandmother or my father.”
