Sen. Kemp Hannon, who represents New York State's 6th Senate District and chairs the New York State Senate Standing Committee on Health, on April 25 visited Weill Cornell Medical College at the invitation of Dr. Antonio M. Gotto Jr., the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean of Weill Cornell Medical College. The purpose of his visit was to gain a better understanding of the training medical students receive here and to tour Weill Cornell's research facilities.
Robert Musco, director of Weill Cornell Capital Planning, showed Sen. Hannon the future site of the new Medical Research Building on East 69th Street, as well as the Margaret and Ian Smith Clinical Skills Center, a patient simulator suite and standardized patient center that enhances student and faculty training.
With Dr. Harel Weinstein, chairman and Maxwell Upson Professor of Physiology and Biophysics, the Senator also toured the CAVE — computer assisted virtual environment — a 3-D immersive visualization room that allows the human body to be viewed with unsurpassed precision and detail.
