On Aug. 10, 2009, Weill Cornell Medical College will join with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and the Hospital for Special Surgery in establishing an entirely smoke-free campus. The policy governing Smoke-Free WCMC will be added to the employee and student handbooks.
Smoking will be prohibited everywhere on the WCMC campus including buildings, courtyards, entrances, garages, plazas and sidewalks. Smoking will also be prohibited at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and the Hospital for Special Surgery. Staff should communicate our policy compassionately in recognition of our overall objective to improve the health of the entire WCMC community.
WCMC is prepared to assist those who wish to quit smoking. Free Smoking Cessation Workshops are offered by Weill Cornell Internal Medicine Associates every Monday at 1 p.m. at 505 E. 70 St., Room 484. Contact Stasi Lubansky at (212) 746-2881 or slubansk@med.cornell.edu to RSVP.
For general smoking cessation information, students should contact Student Health Service at (212) 746-1450.
Workforce Health & Safety, located in the Payson House Basement, offers counseling, treatment and other resources to those interested in stopping smoking.
