Dr. Antonio M. Gotto Jr., dean of Weill Cornell Medical College and world-renowned cardiovascular educator, researcher and clinician, was honored on June 29 by the American Hospital in Istanbul with the dedication of its "Antonio M. Gotto Jr., M.D., D.Phil Center for Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases."
"Establishing a Center such as this will enable the American Hospital to continue to provide the highest quality cardiac care to the region, as well as engage in the kind of significant research that will contribute to the health and well-being of the Turkish people and beyond," said Dr. Gotto. "Today, no one could be happier than I with our enduring relationship, which has made a real difference in medicine, education and research worldwide."

The dedication ceremony, which included a portrait unveiling of Dr. Gotto, was attended by Rahmi Koç, chairman of the Board of Directors of Vehbi Koç Vakfi American Hospital and honorary chairman and member of the Board of Directors of Koç Holding; George Rountree, former C.E.O. of V.K.V. American Hospital; Dr. David Skorton, president of Cornell University; Peter Meinig, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cornell University and member of the Board of Overseers of Weill Cornell Medical College; and Sanford I. Weill, chairman of the Board of Overseers of Weill Cornell Medical College.
