Dr. Fabrizio Michelassi, the Lewis Atterbury Stimson Professor of Surgery and chairman of the Department of Surgery, is the recipient of numerous recent honors. On April 11, Dr. Michelassi delivered the Charles and Elizabeth Prothro Lecture at the Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas on "Recent Changes and Updated Management of Crohn's Disease." He was also recently been named vice president of the Society of Surgical Oncology for the year 2007–2008. Finally, Dr. Michelassi will be giving the keynote lecture at the 50th Hong Kong Surgical Forum, on July 13, at the University of Hong Kong. The title of his lecture is "Evolution of the Bowel-Sparing Procedures in Crohn's Disease." He will also be giving a presentation the following day, July 14, at the 12th Joint Shanghai/Hong Kong Surgical Convention in Shanghai, China. His presentation is titled "To Impact This Art: Surgical Education and Training in the U.S."
