Awards and Honors

Dr. Joseph Fins, chief of the Division of Medical Ethics and professor of medicine and public health, served as a Visiting Professor of Medical Ethics at the Faculty of Medicine of Philipps University of Marburg, Germany. At an Interdisciplinary Seminar entitled "Ethical Reflections on Disorders of Consciousness: Diagnostic and Therapeutic Challenges," Dr. Fins presented a lecture on ethical issues related to disorders of consciousness and served as an invited respondent for papers presented by medical and graduate students. The seminar was held at the Philipps University retreat in the Alpine village of Kleinwalsertal, Austria, from July 29 to Aug. 2. It was chaired by Dr. Gerd Richter, professor of medical ethics at Marburg.

The Division of Nursing at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center have named the following faculty members as recipients of the Second Annual Physician of the Year Award. The award recognizes the outstanding physicians who consistently practice with nurses in a collaborative and collegial manner.
