MD-PhD Students Garner Prestigious Awards and Honors

Ariel Levine

Four students in the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD program recently won highly coveted grants and fellowships.

Ariel Levine (5th year) was awarded an individual fellowship from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke for her work on stem cells and early embryos. Ms. Levine is currently working in the lab of Dr. Ali Hemmati-Brivanlou at The Rockefeller University.

Joseph Mancias (5th year) was also awarded an individual grant from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences for his work on cargo selectivity of the mammalian COPII coat complex. Mr. Mancias is working in the lab of Dr. Jonathan Goldberg at the Sloan-Kettering Institute.

Prabhjot Dhadialla (2nd year) and Conor Liston (3rd year) were selected for the highly competitive Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans - the only MD-PhD students in the nation to receive this honor. This fellowship assists newcomers to the United States and celebrates their contributions to this country. Mr. Dhadialla and Mr. Liston are among the 30 finalists out of over 1,000 applicants. Each will receive a stipend for two years of graduate study.
