Dr. Avshalom Caspi to Present Klerman Memorial Lecture (May 26)

Dr. Avshalom Caspi

The Department of Psychiatry will host the Gerald L. Klerman, M.D. Memorial Lecture on May 26, at 11 a.m. in Uris Auditorium. Dr. Avshalom Caspi, professor of personality development at King's College Institute of Psychiatry (London, England), will present the Klerman Lecture on "The Child Is Father of the Man: Personality Development Across the Life Course." (Dr. Caspi will present the same lecture on May 25 at NewYork-Presbyterian/Westchester Division.)

Dr. Caspi, who received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1986, focuses on three areas in his research: developmental psychology/psychopathology; social psychology and social psychiatry; and personality psychology.

The Gerald L. Klerman Memorial Lecture in the Department of Psychiatry concerns research or policy issues in psychiatry covering the full range of the field from biological to psychosocial, including diagnosis and treatment. The lecture honors one of the great pioneers in clinical psychiatric research who was vice chairman of research for Weill Cornell's Department of Psychiatry.
