NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell employees were celebrated at the annual Employee Appreciation Day on March 12.
The Garden Café was temporarily transformed into a retro-styled hangout replete with bean bags, lava lamps and disco balls. Guests were given complimentary trinkets and favors. As the line for food snaked around the corner and down the halls, the dedicated staffs were treated to breakfast, lunch or dinner, all while listening to the tunes of decades past spun by a live disc jockey.
Providing further entertainment were several '60s- and '70s-inspired actors that got the party started with their dancing, joking, and general antics. An Austin Powers look-alike cruised the floor, instructing people to "behave" while "Foxy Cleopatra" posed for pictures and handed out novelties.
Weill Cornell's Finance Department, located at 100 Broadway, and the Physician Organization Billing Office, located at 575 Lexington Ave., also honored their staff with complimentary buffet-style luncheons at their individual work sites.
