On Oct. 22, the twenty-first annual Women's Health Symposium, sponsored by NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center, was held at the Citigroup Building. The sold-out event, entitled "Stress: Rx for Relief," was hosted by the Women's Health Symposium Executive Steering Committee, co-chaired by Myra Mahon and Joan Weill, both of whom have demonstrated long-term commitment to NewYork Weill Cornell and women's health issues.

The symposium was opened by Dr. Orli Etingin, vice chairman of the Department of Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and professor of clinical medicine and obstetrics and gynecology at Weill Cornell Medical College. Moderating the event was Dr. Herbert Pardes, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. The panelists included Dr. Louis Aronne, clinical associate professor of medicine, who discussed stress and weight management; Dr. Lisa Callahan, assistant professor of clinical medicine, who spoke about fitness and fighting stress; and Dr. Neil Kavey, clinical professor of psychiatry and director of The Sleep Disorders Center at Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons, who focused on the sleep/stress connection.

This annual event provides an opportunity to highlight women's health issues and address the growing trends in women's health services. The guests discovered ways in which women can live longer, healthier lives by protecting themselves against the causes of stress. Underwritten by Citigroup, all proceeds from the Symposium benefit the Iris Cantor Women's Health Center.
