Dr. Davis Pisetsky to Speak at Medicine Grand Rounds (Nov. 6)

The Department of Medicine will host Medicine Grand Rounds with Dr. Davis Pisetsky as the 2003-2004 Charles L. Christian Lecturer, on Thursday, Nov. 6, in Uris Auditorium. Dr. Pisetsky will present a talk on "Systemic Lupus Erythematosus."

Dr. Pisetsky is professor of immunology and chief of the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology at Duke University Medical Center (Durham, N.C.). In addition, he serves as director of the Duke University Arthritis Center.

Dr. Pisetsky was born in Eugene, Ore. He earned both his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and his bachelor's degree from Harvard (magna cum laude). He is the author of numerous publications and a recipient of many awards, including the Arthritis Foundation-Lee C. Howley Sr. Prize for Arthritis Research (2001), the GAMMA Silver Award, Magazine Association of Georgia (2001), and the Philip Hench Award (1994), to name a few.

(Dr. Charles Christian is former director of the Division of Rheumatic Diseases at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He was the first-ever holder of The Joseph P. Routh Professorship of Rheumatic Diseases in Medicine, established in 1985.)
