2003 Medical Complex Art Show a Success

Dr. Antonio Gotto

The 13th Medical Complex Art Show, sponsored by the Weill Cornell Medical Library, attracted a wide range of creators—from the artistically inclined to the budding neophyte. But regardless of how one's work was judged on the artistic totem pole, everyone was a winner according to Dr. Antonio Gotto, dean of the Medical College.

Dr. Gotto, on hand for his 7th art show event, applauded the winners at the show's official opening held in the Medical College Library on Oct. 30, adding "This is one of the most impressive, in-depth range of talent I have seen. I'm especially pleased with the student participation. Represented here are both the humanistic and scientific aspects of medicine."

The exhibit, which is scheduled to run until Jan. 30, 2004, featured 117 creative and engaging pieces—photographs, ceramics, paintings, sculptures, handicrafts, computer-generated art and more—from artistic members of Weill Cornell, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Weill Cornell campus), Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the Hospital for Special Surgery and The Rockefeller University. Some of the participating artists have even submitted work in all 13 shows.
