"Family Day" was held on May 9 at the Medical College, for parents, spouses and friends of Weill Cornell students to simulate "a day in the life of a medical student."
The interactive day began with a buffet luncheon in Archbold Commons, followed by a welcome by the Parents and Significant Others Committee in the Weill Education Center. The program included introductory remarks by Dr. Antonio Gotto, dean of the Medical College; an overview of the curriculum by Dr. Peter Marzuk, associate dean for curricular affairs, and a student panel moderated by Dr. Bruce Ballard, associate dean for student affairs and equal opportunity programs. The student panel discussion involved fourth-year students who talked about their experiences with international electives, career planning, community service and living in the city. Toward the end of the day, guests were divided into groups to attend Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions, which were conducted by student leaders.
After the program, students, faculty and families enjoyed an informal reception.
"Family Day" is sponsored by the Parents and Significant Others Committee and the CUWMC Alumni Association.
