Dr. David Hoyt to Present Wade Trauma Lecture (May 12)

Dr. David Hoyt

Dr. David Hoyt, the Monroe E. Trout Professor of Surgery at the University of California (San Diego) School of Medicine, will be the guest of Weill Cornell's Department of Surgery as the Preston Allen Wade Lecturer on Monday, May 12. Dr. Hoyt will present the featured Wade Trauma Lecture at 8 a.m. in Uris Auditorium. His topic will be "Fluid Resuscitation: Unresolved Issues and New Challenges."

Dr. Hoyt is chief of the Division of Trauma, Burn and Surgical Care; director of the Surgical Care Unit; and vice chairman of the Department of Surgery at the University of California (San Diego) School of Medicine.

The Preston Allen Wade Lecture in the Department of Surgery was established in 1974. Dr. Wade, a pioneer in the field of trauma medicine, rose to the position of clinical professor of surgery at Cornell University Medical College; became chairman of the Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons (ACS); president of the ACS; and president of the New York Academy of Medicine. His many honors include a fellowship in the Royal College of Surgeons and memberships in national surgical and orthopedic associations. Dr. Wade died in 1982.
