Dr. Nachman to Receive the Greenberg Distinguished Service Award (May 1)

Dr. Ralph Nachman, chairman of the Department of Medicine and the E. Hugh Luckey Distinguished Professor of Medicine, will be honored as the 23rd recipient of NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center's Maurice R. Greenberg Distinguished Service Award. The award will be presented at the Greenberg Award dinner at the Plaza on May 1. 


Established in 1981 with a generous gift from Maurice R. Greenberg, the Greenberg Award is the highest honor bestowed on a senior member of the medical staff at the NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center in recognition of exceptional and longstanding service.

As chairman of the Department of Medicine since 1990, Dr. Nachman has spearheaded multiple endeavors on all fronts: biomedical research, clinical programs, educational curricula, residency training, fund raising and quality assurance. He has given more than 40 years of outstanding service to the medical community as a physician, scientist, administrator and educator. Dr. Nachman established the Specialized Center of Research (SCOR) in Thrombosis (National Institutes of Health) at NewYork-Cornell and has made groundbreaking discoveries in the field of hematology and medical oncology. In 1992, he was named the E. Hugh Luckey Distinguished Professor of Medicine.
