Dr. Joseph Loscalzo, the Wade Professor and chairman of the Department of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine, will be the guest of Weill Cornell's Department of Medicine as the 2003 Isadore Rosenfeld Visiting Professor on Thursday, May 1. Dr. Loscalzo will present the featured Rosenfeld Lecture at 11 a.m. in Uris Auditorium. His topic will be "Homocysteine and Atherothrombosis."
Dr. Loscalzo, who received both his M.D. and Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, is also director of Boston University School of Medicine's Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute; program director of the graduate program in molecular medicine; physician-in-chief at Boston Medical Center; and president of the Evans Medical Foundation. He is the author of more than 500 journal articles and abstracts, and has served on the editorial boards of a number of journals.
The Isadore Rosenfeld Visiting Professorship, which brings distinguished cardiologists to Weill Cornell to share their work with the faculty and staff, was established in 1984 by a gift from the Sackler Foundation in honor of Dr. Rosenfeld. Dr. Isadore Rosenfeld, the Rossi Distinguished Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell, is a world-renowned cardiologist who has been associated with the Medical College since 1958.
