Dr. Frank Bia to Present Aaron Feder Visiting Professor Lecture (Nov. 21)

Dr. Frank Bia

Dr. Frank Bia, professor of medicine and laboratory medicine, co-director of the international health program, and associate director of the clinical microbiology laboratory at Yale University School of Medicine, will be the guest of Weill Cornell's Department of Medicine as the Aaron Feder Visiting Professor on Nov. 21.

Dr. Bia is the wearer of many hats: As the co-director of the International Health Program for Yale's Department of Medicine, he oversees approximately 40 residents each year, who participate in clinical rotations both in the tropics and with disadvantaged populations in the United States. Dr. Bia also co-directs the Winchester Fellowship in clinical microbiology and the Tropical Medicine and International Travelers Clinic, where fellows are given the opportunity to gain experience with immunizations, malaria prophylaxis and the evaluation of ill patients from the tropics. Dr. Bia is also editor of the "Travel Medicine Advisor."

Dr. Bia will present the featured Aaron Feder Visiting Professor Lecture at Medicine Grand Rounds on Thursday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. in Uris Auditorium. His topic will be "Malaria in the 21st Century: Global Medicine Getting There From Here."

The Dr. Aaron Feder Visiting Professorship of Medicine was established by the late Morris Brecher and his sister, Susan Brecher, in honor of the late Dr. Aaron Feder.
