Following the recent announcement of the decision of Cornell University President Hunter Rawlings to step down as president next year, the University's Board of Trustees has formed a Presidential Search Committee chaired by trustee Edwin H. Morgens. The committee includes trustees (both board-elected trustees and faculty, employee, student and alumni members of the Board of Trustees) as well as additional distinguished members of the faculty from both Ithaca and Weill Cornell, a graduate student, and a representative of the senior administration of Cornell University.

The Presidential Search Committee has also formed subcommittees, including a subcommittee working specially with Weill Cornell. Individuals designated to work with Weill Cornell are Chairman of the Department of Medicine Dr. Ralph Nachman; Trustee Diana Daniels; Trustee and Weill Cornell Overseer Barbara Friedman; and Trustee Chairman Harold Tanner, who is also a member of Weill Cornell's Board of Overseers.

This subcommittee will host an opening meeting for the Weill Cornell community on Thursday, May 16, at 5 p.m. in Uris Auditorium. If you have thoughts to express regarding the search for a new president of Cornell University, or would simply like to witness an important part of the search process, please plan to attend.

The Presidential Search Committee also welcomes written comments, recommendations and nominations, which can be sent to: Presidential Search Committee, P.O. Box 4688, Ithaca, N.Y. 14852-4688, or via e-mail to cu-pres-search@cornell.edu. (Comments should be received by May 31 to ensure consideration in the search process.)
