The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was the beneficiary of funds raised at the Oscar de la Renta and Bergdorf Goodman Luncheon and Fashion Show on April 11, 2002, at the Pierre Hotel. WABC-TV's news anchor Roz Abrams served as the mistress of ceremonies.

More than $258,000 was raised to benefit the department's ongoing research for the early detection of breast and ovarian cancer. The event, which included a reception and luncheon, featured the Oscar de la Renta 2002 fall collection and had more than 400 attendees. Bergdorf Goodman will contribute a portion of the sales of Oscar de la Renta clothes sold as a result of the event.

Benefit committee co-chairs were Barbara Bancroft; Renee Belfer; Claire Edersheim; Liz Mezzacappa; Carroll Petrie; and Pauline Pitt. Honorary chairs were Iris Cantor and Ruth Stanton. The friends committee co-chairs included Sloan Lindemann Barnett; Eliza Reed Bolen; Jessica Friedberg; Nathalie Kaplan; and Mara Landis.
