The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology in the Department of Medicine celebrated the opening of its new Ambulatory Oncology Suite with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 29.

The Ambulatory Oncology Suite, occupying 20,260 square feet on the third floor, comprises four components: (1) the Hematology and Medical Oncology Faculty Practice, (2) the Ambulatory Infusion and Treatment Center, (3) the Catharine Margaret Pasmantier Center for Stem Cell Biology and Treatment, and (4) the faculty offices of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology (Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology).

Participating in the dedication ceremonies were Dr. Herbert Pardes, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital; Dr. Ralph Nachman, chairman of the Department of Medicine; Dr. Roy Silverstein, the Mark W. Pasmantier Professor of Hematology and Oncology in Medicine and chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology; Dr. Michael Schuster, professor of clinical medicine and director of the Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Program; Dr. Mark Pasmantier, clinical professor of medicine and member of the Cancer Care and Research Committee; and Dr. Thomas Caputo, professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology and chief of the Division of Gynecological Oncology in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

"This new 'Center of Excellence' is designed for the changing needs of oncology patients, providing top-quality, comprehensive clinical care in an ambulatory setting, while facilitating clinical research," said Dr. Silverstein. Included in the facility are chemotherapy treatment suites, transfusion suites, examination rooms, a stem-cell transplant center, pharmacy, doctors' offices, reception area, and administrative space. The Ambulatory Oncology Suite is located in adjoining space on the third floor of the Payson, Starr and F pavilions.
