'Alumni Day' Celebrated by School of Nursing Group

 More than 100 graduates of the CU-NYH School of Nursing gathered at Weill Cornell on May 5 for their 44th annual "Alumni Day" celebration. 


Speakers included Doris Glick, '66, who is vice president for patient services and chief nursing officer for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and Dr. Carol Hoskins, '55, who made a presentation on breast cancer research concerning the importance of emotional support from family members of breast cancer patients.

Jeannette Dontzow Johnson, '47, and Sandra Roberts Byers, '60, both of whom earned Ph.D.'s after graduating from the School of Nursing, were honored as the recipients of the 2001 Distinguished Alumni Awards. Ms. Johnson's nursing career focused on women's health and childbirth education. She is currently involved in advocacy for health-care reform and with volunteer work in a hospice. Ms. Roberts, who has had leadership positions in nursing education and administration, is author of the book "The Executive Nurse: Leadership for New Health Care Transitions" and is currently director of health and wholeness at Worthington Presbyterian Church in Ohio.
