Weill Cornell hosted a Meet the Press media event on Feb. 2 in the Griffis Faculty Club. The program included presentations by health reporters Paul Moniz of WCBS-TV, Judy Messina of Crain's, Barbara Durkin of Newsday, and Hallie Levine of the New York Post. This event was sponsored by the Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Society of New York.
Dr. Ernst Bartsich's (obstetrics and gynecology) new book, "The Other Choice," about alternatives to hysterectomy, was noted in Healthwise Magazine.
Drs. Mary Charlson (medicine), Mitchell Gaynor (medicine) and Eloy Rodriguez (Professor of Environmental Studies, Cornell University) made presentations at a Science Press Breakfast about the mission and activities of Weill Cornell's new Center for Complementary and Integrative Medicine (Feb. 1). More than 15 journalists—including editors and reporters from Reuters Health, Newsweek, Fitness Magazine, Health News Digest, and National Law Journal—listened and asked questions. Also participating were Dean Antonio Gotto, who welcomed the journalists, and Dr. Lisa Staiano-Coico, senior associate dean for research, who was program moderator. The event was organized by the Office of Public Affairs.
Dr. Stephen Chasen (obstetrics and gynecology) was interviewed for ABC's "Good Morning America" on the risks of multiple births.
Dr. Claudia Henschke (radiology) was interviewed by the Los Angeles Times on CT scans and lung cancer in women.
Dr. Wayne Isom received notice in USA Today as the first recipient of the Humanitarian Award co-sponsored by the New York Society of Association Executives (NYSAE) Education & Research Foundation and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation. The award was presented on Feb. 4 at a benefit concert held at Madison Square Garden.
Dr. Zev Rosenwaks (obstetrics and gynecology) was interviewed for The New York Times Magazine about a patient in the in vitro fertilization program who wrote a book about her experience with IVF.
Dr. Alan Segal (neurology) was interviewed by Public Radio International on stroke diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
