Dr. Hajjar Receives $12.3 Million Renewal NIH Program Project Grant in Vascular Cell Signaling

Dr. David Hajjar

Congratulations to Dr. David Hajjar, director of Weill Cornell's Center for Vascular Biology, who recently received a five-year, $12.3 million renewal award from the NIH for his Program Project Grant in Vascular Cell Signaling. Research in this program addresses an important public health issue: the prevention of thrombosis in critical vessels, such as the coronary and cerebral arteries. Dr. Hajjar and his colleagues are seeking to define the specific mechanisms of pathogenesis in atherosclerosis and thrombosis. Dr. Hajjar directs this work along with his many other responsibilities as vice provost for faculty relations, dean of the Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and the Frank H.T. Rhodes Professor of Cardiovascular Biology and Genetics, among others.
