Dr. Antonio Gotto Jr., the Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean of Weill Medical College, hosted a luncheon on Dec. 15 to dedicate the naming of the Ruth and Harold Uris Faculty Room (A-126) in recognition of the extraordinary philanthropic support that the Medical College, and Cornell University, have received from the Uris family. A highlight of the dedication was the unveiling of a portrait of Mr. and Mrs. Uris that will grace the reception area of the Uris Faculty Room.
Guests of honor at the dedication were Mr. and Mrs. Uris' daughters, Susan Halpern, Jane Bayard, and Dr. Linda Sanger.
Joining Dr. Gotto in honoring the Uris family were Harold Tanner, chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cornell University; Stephen Weiss, Trustee Chairman Emeritus and Life Overseer for Weill Cornell; and Dr. Harvey Klein, the William S. Paley Professor of Clinical Medicine and a member of the Board of Overseers. The Uris family's long-standing relationship with Cornell University and its Medical College, the speakers noted, will stand for generations as a testament to the generosity of spirit and commitment to excellence of two very special people.
