Weill Cornell Commencement Features Largest-Ever Graduating Class

One hundred and twelve MDs, representing the largest class in the history of the Medical College, and 30 PhDs and 3 MSs, from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences, received their newly minted diplomas on May 25 at Avery Fisher Hall. The MD Class of 2000 included the largest number of women (59) in Weill Cornell's history and an impressive 23 graduates from underrepresented minorities. Alumni Awards of Distinction were presented to Thomas Killip III, MD '52, and June Biedler, PhD '59. Student commencement speakers were Elizabeth Broussard from the Medical College and Cynthia Anne Leifer from the Graduate School of Medical Sciences.
