NewYork Weill Cornell Medical Center paid tribute to the late Dr. David E. Rogers by naming its Chelsea AIDS Unit in memory of the distinguished AIDS advocate last month. Part of the Hospital's Center for Special Studies, directed by Dr. Jonathan Jacobs, the Chelsea AIDS Unit, which opened in 1997, is characterized by its comprehensive approach to AIDS and its setting in the attractive and welcoming quarters of the Gay Men's Health Crisis. Dr. Rogers, who died of colon cancer in 1994, was an important figure in the history of American medicine and a true champion in the fight against AIDS.
