Dr. Laura Alonso has been named chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, effective Sept. 1. Dr. Alonso will also lead the Joan and Sanford I. Weill Center for Metabolic Health at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Dr. Alfred C. Winkler has been named chief of urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. Winkler, who is also an assistant professor of clinical urology at Weill Cornell Medicine, was most recently chief of urology at NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital.
Dr. Manuel Hidalgo, a leading physician-scientist who specializes in pancreatic cancer and drug development, has been named chief of the Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology in the Weill Department of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, effective June 1.
Dr. Dolores Lamb has been awarded the Endocrine Society’s Outstanding Mentor Award and the Society of Women in Urology’s Christina Manthos Mentoring Award for her work mentoring trainees.
To expand access to life-saving liver transplants for those in need, NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and Weill Cornell Medicine have unveiled a new living donor liver transplant program. It performed its first such transplant with success in late January.
Dr. Michael G. Stewart is taking on an expanded role as vice dean at Weill Cornell Medicine, and Dr. Peter N. Schlegel has been appointed senior associate dean for clinical affairs.
