Dr. Erika Abramson, professor of pediatrics, has been named a member of the American Pediatric Society. Members of the society are recognized as child health leaders who work together to shape the future of academic pediatrics. Founded in 1888, the American Pediatric Society is the first and most prestigious academic pediatric organization in North America. New members will be recognized during the Presidential Plenary at the Pediatric Academic Societies 2023 Meeting.
Fanesse George, assistant director of staff diversity, inclusion and engagement, has been named one of 100 Top Leaders in DEIB by Mogul.com. In her role, George oversees inclusion and belonging programs that impact over 8,000 employees at Weill Cornell Medicine. Her mission is to partner with the institution’s business units and stakeholders to infuse inclusion into the fabric of the employee experience with an emphasis on belonging. Amongst a wide range of initiatives, George has spearheaded the establishment of Weill Cornell's Staff Equity & Inclusion Council and institution-wide anti-bias training.
Dr. Silvia C. Formenti, chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology, was the recipient of the Ezra Greenspan Award from the Chemotherapy Foundation. The Chemotherapy Foundation is a not-for-profit organization uniquely dedicated to controlling, curing and preventing cancer through innovative medical therapies and to the special education of physicians through symposia. Dr. Greenspan, a pioneering oncologist, established the foundation, and its professional education arm, and the award is their highest medical honor. Dr. Formenti was presented the award during the Chemotherapy Foundation 2022 Innovation Gala, which took place Nov.10, 2022.
