Weill Cornell Medicine Faculty Named 'Most Influential' Researchers

Four professors from Weill Cornell Medicine have been named to a list of the most influential scientific minds of 2015. The list — based on statistics maintained by Thomson Reuters — reflects the most prolific researchers in their respective fields of science.

The investigators named to the prestigious list were considered by the editors to be "a special subset of 'hot' researchers whose very recent work has won distinction in the form of citations… they are scientists who have won acclaim and approval within a key population: their peers."

The Weill Cornell Medicine professors on the list are:

  • Dr. Lewis Cantley, the Meyer Director of the Sandra and Edward Meyer Cancer Center at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian and professor of cancer biology in medicine, focuses his research on understanding the biochemical pathways that regulate normal mammalian cell growth and the defects that cause cell transformation.
  • Dr. David Calfee, an associate professor of medicine and of healthcare policy and research, studies the epidemiology and prevention of healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic resistance.
  • Dr. BJ Casey, the Sackler Professor of Developmental Psychobiology and a professor of psychology in psychiatry and of psychology in neuroscience at the Feil Family Brain and Mind Research Institute, investigates the development, disruption and neurobiological basis of attention and affect regulation.
  • Dr. Mark Rubin, director of the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, the Homer T. Hirst III Professor of Oncology in Pathology and a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine and of urology, has dedicated the past decade of research to the extensive development of molecular biomarkers capable of distinguishing between idle and aggressive prostate cancer.
