Dr. Jessica Ancker, an associate professor of healthcare policy and research, was elected chair of the American Medical Informatics Association's Evaluation Working Group, effective Jan. 1. The association is comprised of more than 4,000 members who seek to transform healthcare through trusted science, education and practice in biomedical and health informatics.

Dr. Ronald Crystal, chairman of the Department of Genetic Medicine, the Bruce Webster Professor of Internal Medicine and a professor of medicine and of genetic medicine, gave a plenary lecture at the 14th International Conference on Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinoses in Cordoba, Argentina. His talk was about gene therapy for lysomal storage disease and its manifestations in the central nervous system.

Dr. Harel Weinstein, chairman of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and the Maxwell M. Upson Professor of Physiology and Biophysics, was in October appointed the first chair of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology's newly formed subcommittee on Data Science and Informatics. The federation seeks to advance health and welfare by promoting progress and education in biological and biomedical sciences through service to member societies and collaborative advocacy.
