The Department of Surgery and Department of Anesthesiology’s Skills Acquisition and Innovation Laboratory (SAIL) won a prestigious design merit award in the interiors category from the Society of American Registered Architects. The award was presented at the society’s annual conference in October in Palm Springs, Calif. The society is a professional association of architects dedicated to advancing the field.

Dr. Inmaculada de Melo-Martin, a professor of medical ethics in medicine and of medical ethics in reproductive medicine, received the William H. Scheuerle Humanities Graduate Award from the University of South Florida on Oct. 22. The award is given to alumni of the university who represent academic strength through their achievements and their contribution to humanities through their career. The former director of the Humanities Institute, Dr. William H. Scheuerle, conceived the award as a way to honor those alumni who have become prominent members in liberal arts areas of study.

Dr. Caitlin Snow, a clinical associate professor of neurological surgery, received the Department of Psychiatry’s 2014 Distinguished Housestaff Award on Nov. 13.
