Awards and Honors

Dr. Kevin Kelly, director of the Oates Communication Skills Curriculum and a clinical professor of psychaitry, received the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research's annual Howard Klar Teacher of the Year Award during the center's commencement celebration on June 23. The winner is chosen each year by a committee and carries an honorarium, an award and the recipient's name inscribed on a plaque in the center's library.

Dr. Christopher E. Mason, an assistant professor of physiology and biophysics at the HRH Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud Institute for Computational Biomedicine and an assistant professor of neuroscience at the Feil Family Brain and Mind Research Institute, was given the CDC/ASTOR Honor award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for his work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on next-generation sequencing standardization of clinical testing. This work continues as an ongoing effort to establish "the meter stick of the human genome" with the CDC, the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities.

Dr. Dattatreyudu Nori, professor of clinical radiation oncology, received the Distinguished Service Award from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center during its International Brachytherapy Symposium for his outstanding contributions and pioneering work as the institution's chief of brachytherapy service.

Dr. Michael Perelman, clinical professor of psychology in psychiatry, clinical professor of psychology in urology and clinical professor of psychology in reproductive medicine, was appointed editor-in-chief of Current Sexual Health Reports, a journal that offers expert opinions on current advances in the sexual health field.
