Dr. Majd Al Assaad, a research fellow in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, received a 2023 AACR-Bristol Myers Squibb Scholar-in-Training Award. The award, funded by Bristol Myers Squibb, supports early career investigators who presented praiseworthy abstracts at the AACR Annual Meeting 2023, which took place in April.
Dr. Ria Goswami, assistant professor of virology in pediatrics, received the Gilead Research Scholars Award from the Gilead Sciences Research Scholars Program. The prize will support Dr. Goswami’s research, which examines the role and mechanisms of infant gut microbiome on the risk of oral HIV acquisition.
Dr. Pashtoon Kasi, recruited as an associate professor of medicine, was named the inaugural chair of the International Society of Liquid Biopsy's Communications Committee. The society is the first international professional organization committed to the improvement and implementation of liquid biopsies in clinical routine practice.
