Dr. Laura Riley, chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Given Foundation Professor in Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology, won the 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine. The society supports the clinical practice of maternal-fetal medicine by providing education, promoting research and engaging in advocacy to optimize the health of high-risk pregnant women and their babies.
Dr. Beate Schwer, professor of microbiology and immunology, has been elected to the American Academy of Microbiology, part of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM). The ASM is one of the largest professional societies dedicated to the life sciences with a mission to promote and advance the microbial sciences. Fellows of the American Academy of Microbiology, an honorific leadership group and a think tank within the ASM, are elected annually through a peer-review process, based on their records of scientific achievement and original contributions.
