Awards and Honors Across Weill Cornell Medicine

Dr. Jennifer Bassetti, assistant professor of clinical pediatrics, was appointed vice chair of the Membership Committee of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. The college is the only nationally recognized interdisciplinary professional membership organization that represents the interests of the entire medical genetics team including clinical geneticists, clinical laboratory geneticists and genetic counselors.

Dr. Christopher Cunniff, professor of pediatrics, was named chairperson of the 2018 Board of Directors Nominations Committee for the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. The college is the only nationally recognized interdisciplinary professional membership organization that represents the interests of the entire medical genetics team including clinical geneticists, clinical laboratory geneticists, and genetic counselors.

Dr. Sandra Demaria, professor of radiation oncology and of pathology and laboratory medicine, has been elected to serve as the Cancer Immunology Working Group (CIMM) chairperson-elect 2019-2020 for the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR). The association’s mission is to prevent and cure cancer through research, education, communication, collaboration, funding and advocacy. Dr. Demaria will assume the office of chairperson-elect during the AACR annual meeting held in March 2019 in Atlanta, Ga.

Dr. Julianne Imperato-McGinley, chief of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, the Abby Rockefeller Mauzé Distinguished Professor of Endocrinology in Medicine, professor of medicine and program director of the Clinical and Translational Science Center, has been appointed to serve on The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) CTSA Program Steering Committee. The committee provides leadership for sharing of policies, practices and resources, and discussion of opportunities, impediments, joint agreement on broad issues impeding clinical research and other appropriate topics.

Dr. Rahul Sharma, chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine, has been appointed to the State Board for Medicine by the Regents of the University of the State of New York. The regents are responsible for the general supervision of all educational activities within the state, presiding over the university and the New York State Education Department. Dr. Sharma will serve a five year appointment term.
