Dr. Stephen Johnson, director of biomedical informatics at the Clinical and Translational Science Center, director of graduate programs at the Department of Healthcare Policy and Research, and professor of healthcare policy and research, was appointed chair of the Commission on Health Informatics and Information Management's Council for Health Informatics Accreditation. The council comprises academic professionals associated with currently accredited programs who serve as accreditation reviewers for peer institutional programs. The commission is an independent accrediting organization that strives to serve the public interest by establishing and enforcing quality accreditation standards for health informatics and health information management educational programs.

Drs. Julie Penzner, an assistant professor of psychiatry, and Nina Freund, a clinical instructor in psychiatry, have been awarded the American Psychiatric Association's annual Nancy C.A. Roeske, MD Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Medical Student Education for outstanding and sustaining contributions to medical student education. The association presented the award at its annual meeting in May in Atlanta.
